In our project we worked extensively with Gnu Radio. Gnu Radio is an open source software for the implementation of SDR (Software Defined Radio). It allows the implementation of various digital modulation and demodulation methods, realization of digital filters and various displays that can show frequency spectra and constellation diagrams.
In our project we used the different signal processing blocks and connected the mto a so-called “flow graph”. The flow graph can then be simulated, for which no hardware is required. After a successful simulation the boards can then be connected to attempt a transmission, however problems like bit errors, synchronization errors etc. will occur, which are not prevalent in the simulation.
